Electric Cars - Hybrids

Now that America is entering another era of high gas prices, there is a renewed interest in electric transportation. Despite the need and desire for Americans to have cheaper methods of driving their cars, there has been an attempt by the oil industry and the car dealerships to halt the production of these types of vehicles. Of course the oil companies would lose a lot of revenue if people began to drive electric vehicles or hydrogen based vehicles.

Of course the oil companies would lose a lot of revenue if people began to drive electric vehicles or hydrogen based vehicles.

Not only would they loose a lot of revenue but they would also loose control or advantage and even the ability to wage economic war on America, as they did in 1973 by forming a cartel.

Car manufacturers and dealerships would not want to see the electric car succeed because they too would lose a lot of profits. You see, cars that are electric require very little maintenance and their shelf life and part life are much longer than with gasoline powered vehicles. You do not have the need to change the oil, transmission fluid, or many of the other parts the related to petroleum-based products.

With an electric car you are utilizing much smaller motors and engines which have one or two basic parts fueled by electricity. Therefore, dealerships would lose many maintenance customers because there would no longer be a need to have their services required.

Also, in order for electric hybrid cars to succeed, the American infrastructure would have to change. It would have to enough allow the technology to be in place for electric cars to be able to be plugged in where needed.

In the past, one of the big roadblocks to having an electric car is the distance that the car can travel on a charge battery. However, there is the prospect of having a hybrid type of vehicle that not only runs on electricity but on gas. This type of vehicle would run for a certain distance on battery power, and when it would run out of juice, the vehicle would automatically switch to gas power. This would still be a tremendous savings on fuel consumption in the United States.

Also, in order for electric hybrid cars to succeed, the American infrastructure would have to change. It would have to have enough allow the technology to be in place for electric cars to be able to be plugged in where needed. It would not be enough to be plugged in, but also with the ability to charge the vehicle utilizing smart technology which can detect the owners car and charge that owners account for the electricity.

If they succeed, new types of technology will not be far behind.

Even though that seems like a stretch, England is moving ahead with charging stations as well as several other European countries, who are slowly trying to break the chains of carbon based fuel consumption. If they succeed, new types of technology will not be far behind. This would not be just in the arena of electric vehicles, but also in the area of hydrogen and ethanol based cars.

This will give consumers new options in fuel, but also a cleaner and safer way of driving of a vehicle and that would be a benefit to everyone.

Welcome to the future!
