Germany Wants You to Plug in Your Scooter

In Berlin, Germany there is a company that sees potential in the electric scooter market. A company named SolarMove thinks that electric motor scooters are a perfect way to eliminate a lot of the noise, smell and offer an alternative to fossil fuels.
However, despite the fact that many Germans and companies like SolarMove see potential in the e-scooters, there is a reason why these vehicles are not being seen on the streets of places like Berlin.
Each light pole would be able to hold up to four power plugs and the user would be billed via a debit card or chip which can be installed into the scooter.
The reason is a lack of places to recharge the electric scooters. SolarMove believes that they can change that. With the motto "Build the right infrastructure and they will come," SolarMove wants to redesign streetlight poles so that they can be recharging stations. Their goal is to have several hundred charging poles installed over the next 5 or so years. Each light pole would be able to hold up to four power plugs and the user would be billed via a debit card or chip which can be installed.

Electric scooters in Germany can cost the equivalent of $3,500.00 in Germany compared to the $1,800.00 gas powered vehicles.
However, with newer standards on traffic emissions there may be a surge of sales in the e-scooter market and in the research of these types of vehicles. SolarMove has other ambitious plans for its proliferation of the e-scooter. There have been similar projects planed for in California as well as several other states. Perhaps it won’t be long before we can conveniently plug in an electric scooter, electric bike or even, perhaps, an electric car someday.
